Your Winter CrewCaptain Mike and Chef Lori CadyMike and Lori have been sailing together for the past 18 years including the last 8 years successfully enjoying the charter trade in the British Virgin Islands! They are eager to share their experience and local knowledge with you and show you a safe and exciting vacation. Specializing in finding those secluded, out of the way anchorages and deserted beaches they are confident they can provide a unique vacation for you and your family and friends no matter how many times you have been to the British Virgin Islands. They met in Alaska 20 years ago sharing their mutual interest in sailing and the outdoors. Together in Alaska, Mike and Lori enjoyed skiing, kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking, mountaineering, canoeing and numerous other hobbies. Mike, who worked all over Alaska as a geologist, was very involved in the local climbing community and capped his climbing accomplishments with a North-South traverse of the Alaska Range by way of the summit of Mt. McKinley (Denali). Lori, an avid swimmer, runner and triathlete, has recently begun running marathons. In 1988 they found a beautiful 37-foot sailboat in Seattle and sailed back to Alaska’s Prince William Sound. After two fun summers and two long winters of shoveling snow off the decks, they made their decision to leave. From 1991 to 1996 they sailed their boat, Glissade, westward around the world. Along the way they actively interacted with people in over 30 countries, trying new foods and rising to each new challenge. Their current interests are widely varied. When home in Washington State they run a 72 passenger whale watching boat showing passengers the local killer whale population. During their summers off during the past 5 years they have designed and built a barn and house near Port Townsend. Mike and Lori are both USCG Certified with 100 Ton ratings. Mike is a PADI Dive Master and Instructor, Lori a PADI Dive Master, developing their skills safely sailing and diving in some of the most remote places in the world. Lori’s abilities as chef were influenced by the many cultures she experienced. She continues to refine her skills every summer in Seattle at the Blue Ribbon Cooking and Culinary School and Bon Vivant featuring courses with Seattle’s best chefs and their specialties. Lori takes pride in everything she serves and you will be continually amazed that your favorite dish of the week was the one that you just had. Together, this adventurous, fun-loving couple combines their talent and experience to create a most unforgettable sailing vacation for their guests. You will feel at home the moment you step aboard. Rediscover that adventurous side of yourself and come explore the British Virgin Islands with Captain Mike and Lori.
